Emme:
Emme has been part of Camp Hochelaga for (over) 15 summers now, and we’re so incredibly grateful to get to see her back this summer in the role of Seasonal Assistant Camp Director. Emme (and her goats, Kili & Fili) bring a loving and calming presence to our space that our counselors & campers (and other Directors) alike admire, and value. After thinking she would take a year off from camp after running our CIT program the last 3 consecutive seasons, we’re feeling fortunate that - just like how we can’t imagine a summer without her - she couldn’t picture her summer without being back here

Can’t have rainbows (our 2026 camp theme) without a bit of rain 🌧️🌈✨

We are so grateful to have gotten to spend this past week playing in the sun (and a bit of rain) with our Day Campers ❤️

Swipe to see our lovely camp through alll the seasons a late Vermont spring can throw our way, plus the cover for our first SCAMP of the season and a sneak peak at how our “scampers” are transforming an old space at camp into something new and joyful 🌈

See you tomorrow for our first week with overnight campers too 🥳

We are so excited to see folks out this weekend for our Centennial on the Campgrounds & Open House, and our Alum Reunion 🥳

Our complete schedule for both days can be found in this post, and we also wanted to share some ~special features~ for our Saturday event:

Come see Kili & Fili! 🐐🐐 The boys will Not be with us for our full 2026 season, so this day is a great opportunity to come say hey to some of our favorite goat friends ❤️

We’ll also have 2 food trucks joining us for the day for anyone who gets a lil hungry while visiting: and ‘s food truck will be available all day for all of our guests (dietary options available ✅)

There is currently a “light rain” expected throughout the day Saturday - but hey 🤷 what are Vermonters for if not being prepared for anything the weather could send our way 💪

We’ll see you back at camp soon! 🏕️

Is there anything better than having incredible staff returning to their roles at camp?

For today’s staff feature we are welcoming back 3 absolutely wonderful staff who help keep our summer steady - Liiz, Karla, and Mel! 🥳❤️

Liiz will be returning as our Office Assistant and Head of International Staff (and also will be leading some classes and running our camp store - is there anything she can’t do?) We are so excited and grateful to get to see her back at ‘Laga this summer ❤️
“Hi, I’m Liiz. I’m from Mexico 🇲🇽, and this is my fourth year in Hochelaga. I’m really happy to be back.✨ I really enjoy going to concerts and music festivals, go to flea markets, exploring new places and countries, and watching tv shows and movies.”

Karla has also worn many hats around camp. Not to speak on behalf of our other staff, but it feels easy to say that we will all be so grateful to have her back this summer to keep our activities for our campers fun and fresh (and also highly organized for counselors!) 🥳
“Hi! My name is Karla, I’m from México 🇲🇽 This is gonna be my third year at Laga, and I’m thrilleddddd to be back! Can’t wait to see camp’s night skies and go swimming in the lake ✨”

Last and absolutely not least for the day, we’re welcoming back another multi-talented staff: Mel! Supporting our day camp program, you can expect Mel to be a friendly face to great you as you arrive at camp (and a loving comfort for our day campers who are trying out sleeping over at camp) ❤️
“Hi everyone! My name is Melina, and I’m from Colombia 🇨🇴 This is my third year at Camp Hochelaga, and I’m so excited to be back! I absolutely love dancing, learning about new cultures, and swimming. I can’t wait to meet all of you!”

We can’t wait to see you all back in South Hero 🥳❤️

Today we are so so excited to share 3 incredible returning staff, all returning to their roles as our Heads of Line for the summer: Andrea, Cata,& Atz 🥰🏕️

Andrea will be going into her second summer as HOL for our elementary aged overnight camper group. We can’t wait to see this incredibly kind, caring, and super silly leader back at camp❤️
“Hey everyone! 😄
I’m Andrea and I’m from Spain 🇪🇸. This will be my 3rd summer at camp and I’m sooo excited to see you all again. I love spending time in nature, music and traveling.
I can’t wait to spend time at the lake and be back on the lower mid-line!!! 🫶🏻🏕️”

Cata will also be returning to her role as HOL for our middle school aged overnight campers. She is incredibly strong (see our post from our 2025 staff week for proof), caring and thoughtful and we can’t wait to get to see her back leading some of our campers 🥰
“Hi everyone! I’m Cata.
I’m from Colombia and this will be my third year coming to camp, I’m super excited to be back! I love doing crafts (especially friendships bracelets ✨), swimming and listening to music. I’m looking forwards to getting to meet you all! 🩷”

Atz, in addition to returning to her role as our HOL for our high school aged overnight campers, will also be mentor and guide for our first-year LIT staff this season! Every summer, Atz shows up as her incredibly creative, caring, and patient self, and we can’t wait to get to see her back at camp so soon! 🥳
“Hiii 💗 my name is Atz! and this is my fourth time in Hochelaga, i’m so happy to be here this summer, i’m from Mexico 🇲🇽 and i love to spend time with my friends, travel and read!“

See you all in South Hero soon 🥳❤️🏕️

Today we are highlighting three staff who will be joining our team for the first time this summer: let’s give the warmest welcome to Lee, Jin, and Nora 🥳🥳

Nurse Lee will be partnering with returning Head Nurse, Sarah, to lead us through a happy and healthy summer season together-
“This is my first year at camp and I am so excited to be one of the nurses this year! Supporting a safe and fun summer for all the campers is going to be a blast. I adore Vermont summers and have a feeling this will be the most magical one yet. When I’m not in the health house, you can catch me working on a quilt, swimming, or having a dance party. 🌈🩷⛺️”

Jin will be joining us for her first summer ever at Hochelaga 🥳Just last year she completed a 300km (~186.4 miles) in Spain over 20 days, so you know she’s ready to lead our incredible and brave campers-
“Hi everyone! I’m from China, and this is my first time at Camp Hochelaga. I’m really excited to be with the campers and to finally experience being off-grid all summer!”

Nora will be returning to camp for her first year on staff, and we’re so excited to have her back (and of course her camper little sis who will still be there too ❤️)-
“Hi! I’m Nora, and this is going to be my fifth summer at camp! I am from San Francisco, and I love to play soccer, sew, and hang out with my friends!”
