Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Administration,

After careful consideration, South Suburban College is extending the Spring Break for our students through March 22, 2020. Students with a clinical rotation will be contacted by your Academic Dean or Program Coordinator with more details. We are also implementing a Spring Break for all Adult Education classes next week. The College will remain open and maintain standard operating hours. All employees will continue working through the extended break.

Classes will resume on March 23rd to see the completion of the Spring 2020 Semester on schedule. We are working diligently to ensure all credit classes may be offered in an online format, if necessary. More information will be shared on class delivery later next week. All campus events scheduled through March 22nd are postponed, including the Chicago Women's Conference and Expo.

The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority. Currently, there are no reported cases of COVID-19 at SSC. Rest assured, the goal of these new decisions is to mitigate the risk to members of our community of contracting and spreading the virus.

Please continue to check your email, the college website, and any of the college’s social media pages for more information.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Many educators are skeptical that audio books could help students improve their reading skills or prepare them to read in real-life situations.

However, in the basic education classroom or tutoring environment, audiobooks have traditionally been used to instruct English as a second language (ESL) learners, individuals with learning disabilities, and individuals who are either learning to read or are improving their reading skills.
