Now that EMS week has come to a close, I want to share some heartfelt news. On May 13th, we sadly lost another incredible medic. Robert Baker, the former EMS Chief, was truly one of the best in the field, and I'm honored to have known him. His kindness, compassion, and generosity were inspiring, and his love for being a medic was evident in the way he cared for his crew. I first met Robert years ago when I started as an explorer in '92, and when I became a certified medic in '96, he was beaming with pride, shaking his head in omg style.
A moment that has stayed with me, when I was promoted to Assistant Chief, Robert went out of his way to create a badge for me, expressing his joy in seeing me stick with EMS over the years. We had the privilege of working together at numerous companies, and everyone who knew him can attest that Robert was always the first person you'd call when you needed help, no matter what. Personally, I'll miss his quirky sense of humor and infectious laugh!! May you rest in peace Robert Dean Baker❤️
