Happy Flag Day!

"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." — Elmer Davis

Today we honor the American flag and the values it represents: freedom, unity, service, and sacrifice. As the Stars and Stripes fly proudly throughout our community, we remember those who have defended our nation's ideals and those who continue to serve others each day.

🍩🚔 Happy National Donut Day! 🚔🍩

It's the one day of the year when all the donut jokes are officially encouraged.

Yes, we like donuts.
No, they aren't part of our standard issued equipment.
And yes, if you see an officer carrying a box of donuts today, they're probably just helping support a local business... or conducting a very thorough taste test. 😉

Whether you prefer glazed, chocolate, maple, sprinkles, or filled, today is a great day to treat yourself and support your favorite local bakery.

Tell us in the comments: What's the best donut? 👇🍩

Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy National Donut Day!

🚨 Several changes went into effect concerning the laws governing E-bikes, Electric Scooters, and E-Motorcycles 🚨

Parents and riders—important changes have happened regarding E-Bikes/Scooters and E-Motorcycles to help keep everyone safe on Utah roads:

🔹 Helmet Law Expanded,
all riders under 21 must now wear a helmet when operating any electric-assisted bicycle on a public roadway. *This does not apply to a Class 1 bike or scooter rental from a business.

🔹Available May 2027 - Safety Certificate Required -
Riders ages 8–15 must complete an online safety course to ride unsupervised on public roads.
This also applies to riders 16–17 and adults 18+ who do not have a driver’s license.

➡️ Riding under direct parent/guardian supervision is still allowed without the certificate.

🔹 New Vehicle Classification
Devices "High Powered Mobility Device", capable of speeds over 20 mph on motor power alone are no longer considered e-bikes. These are now basically classified as motorcycles—meaning registration and insurance.

✔️ These updates are designed to improve safety and clarify rules for riders of all ages.

Please take time to review the new requirements and make sure your family is educated on this new law.

For additional information, check out Utah House Bill 381.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and their courage will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Please celebrate safely:
• Drive responsibly
• Never drive impaired
• Watch for motorcycles, bicyclists, and pedestrians
• Slow down, Buckle up, and put the phone down

From all of us at SJPD, we thank our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.
