We appreciate all of our residents for their efforts to keep our community safe over the 4th of July. As you celebrate the July 24 holiday, please do so responsibly while protecting your neighbors and our community.

Fireworks are a fun summer tradition, but they can also pose serious fire risks. South Jordan City continues to enforce fireworks restrictions in high-risk areas to help prevent accidental fires.

While recent weather patterns have brought higher humidity and some area moisture, fire danger remains high.

Before lighting fireworks:
• Check the City's interactive fireworks map to make sure you're in an area where fireworks are allowed.
• Visit our fireworks safety page for important safety tips and information.

Yesterday, three of our firefighters deployed as part of the Valley Task Force to assist with the Babylon Fire in San Juan County, Utah. The Babylon Fire is currently the largest active wildfire in the nation. Our members are assigned to the Structure Protection Group, but bring extension Wildland firefighting experience with them as well.

Wondering what qualifies as a "banned firework"? The City of South Jordan follows the definitions as set forth in the Utah State Code 53-7-202 – Fireworks Definitions.

We appreciate the community's efforts to enjoy a safe holiday celebration by following the Governor's state-wide ban. For more information on how you can help prevent wildfires in our State, visit UtahFireSense.org.
