I was just over at the Interfaith Pads shelter program in Michigan City tonight. The new shelter is so wonderful. Men are upstairs and women and children are down.

Harry is in need of some help on Sunday nights from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. It is for the women. He is in need of a lady to cover the shift. If interested please call Lisa at 851-8739 or 362-2736 so I can put you in touch with Harry.

Since we currently do not have a shelter in La Porte all of our clients are now in city. Would love for us to help Harry out. Thank you to Phil Janik for his weekly volunteering at the shelter.

Our office, Center Township Trustee, will be open today from 9-4 if you need to get out of the cold, need extra blankets or anything else. Do not be living or sleeping in a situation that could be unsafe during this cold spell.

More money being placed on your SNAP cards this month!

If you or someone in your family received monthly snap benefits on the fifth or the seventh of every month. You will still receive your regular snap issuance on these dates in January as well as the maximum benefit for your household size. This call is to inform you that the latest Stimulus bill from congress allows your family to receive a 15% increase in the snap maximum allotment. However we were not able to build this into our system in time for your issuance dates. Do not worry we will be providing an additional supplemental issuance on January 9. In order to make up the difference you can check the status of your case online at www.fsabenefits.iand.gov or if you have any questions please call 800-403-0864.
