Union Township crews were dispatched for an injured person on the river bank of the Little Miami River. Crews initially had difficulty locating the person so the Warren County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone and located the injured person. Crews made their way to where the person was and began providing medical care to them. Due to the location and difficulty of access it was determined that performing a “pick off” maneuver with a ladder truck was the safest way to extract the patient from the area. Deerfield Township crews set up on the 48 bridge and performed a flawless pick off maneuver with Ladder 57. The patient was transferred to Careflight and flown to the hospital. Once again our mutual aid partnership with Deerfield Township proved invaluable. When departments work together collaboratively it makes for safer community’s for everyone.

Units on scene:

- Deerfield Township: Battalion 56, Ladder 57, Rescue 57, Engine 58

Unit 1 crews responded to I71 SB at the 27/7 for a report of a multi vehicle crash. On arrival crews found a semi that had collided with another semi then ran off the road and jackknifed. Fortunately no injuries were reported however the recently filled Diesel settle tank ruptured causing a large amount of Diesel fuel to spill on the roadway and in the ditch line. Crews from Deerfield Township along with greater Cincinnati Haz-Mat were requested to the scene to assist with preventing the fuel from getting into waterways. The EPA is on scene. Big thanks to DTFR for the assistance. Deerfield Township Fire Rescue (Warren County, Ohio)

Crews have recently participated in several training opportunities, including a very chilly water rescue training alongside our area mutual aid departments, as well as completing a driver check-off for our newest full-time member.
With summer quickly approaching, we look forward to many more days of training and continuing to sharpen our skills. Thank you to Deerfield Township Fire Rescue (Warren County, Ohio) for the invite to a great refresher and learning experience during water rescue training.
