About Turning Wheel:
After the close of Frog Hollow Craft School in May of 2008, former pottery instructors Teri and Derek Andersen founded Turning Wheel studio, based on the same art and craft educational philosophies of Frog Hollow but with the added passion of Derek's vast naturalist skills, Turning Wheel, a ceramics based studio, has coined itself an Art and Nature Education Center. As often
as possible Turning Wheel integrates our love of nature and the beauty of where we live with the passion we have for the medium of clay. Turning Wheel has had the privilege of working with many local schools and organizations such as Long Trail School, Burr and Burton Academy, Hildene, the Lawrence School, North shire Day School, Equinox Terrace, Stratton Kids Camp, and many others. Students of any age can experience creating ceramic ware using the potter’s wheel or by hand from the raw clay stage while learning various surface design applications and glaze techniques. Private lessons, classes, and workshops are offered from basic throwing classes to wild edible hikes. Most recently Turning Wheel partnered with ceramic artist Chris Hudson, who holds her Masters of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the Royal College of Art. Chris's work has been featured in many galleries throughout England, as well as the U.S. Chris was a ceramics professor in the U.K. before moving back to the States. Teri holds a B.F.A. from the University of Hartford and has been teaching art for over 10 years. Teri is currently the Art teacher at the Mountain School at Winhall. Derek holds a liberal arts degree from Green Mountain College, with a focus on Biology, Education, and Ceramics. Derek is currently a Para-educator at the Flood Brook Union School in Londonderry. The instructors at Turning Wheel value the educational experience a well as share a passion for clay. Collectively Turning Wheel offers an experience to its students unlike any other.
