Clean that lint filter! Failure to clean dryers is the #1 cause of clothing dryer fires.

Quick safety rules:
1. Clean lint filter before or after every load.
2. Clean outdoor vent pipes once a year.
3. Keep the surrounding area free of clutter.
4. Never run the dryer when sleeping or away from home.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), unattended cooking is the leading cause of kitchen fires. Protect your home with these quick rules:

-🚶 Stand by your pan: Never leave frying or broiling food unattended.
-⏱️ Set a timer: Check regularly on anything simmering or baking.--🧼 Clear the clutter: Keep oven mitts, food packaging, and towels away from the burners.

Fire Safety Fridays!

As part of our commitment to keeping our community safe, we're kicking off a series of fire safety tips in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Today’s focus: Lithium-Ion Battery & Safe Charging Habits

Check off your daily charging checklist:

[ ] Are you using the charger that came with your device?
[ ] Is your device charging on a hard, flat surface (not a bed or couch)?
[ ] Did you unplug your device once it finished charging?
[ ] Are large batteries (e-bikes/tools) stored/charged outside?

Training Tuesday, Aug 11th: Training focused on hose management and effective line advancement. Crews worked with charged hose lines and practiced different techniques for efficiently feeding and advancing hose into a structure and around corners. Training also covered common causes of pressure changes and restricted water flow, as well as how to quickly identify and troubleshoot those issues. The goal was to reinforce good hose-handling habits and problem-solving skills so crews can recognize and correct problems quickly when operating in the high-stress environment of a working fire.

Training Tuesday, July 14th: Tonight's training focused on aerial operations and water supply.

Our engineers and Aerial Platform Operators (APOs) worked through multiple repetitions of deploying supply lines, establishing a water supply from the engine to the aerial ladder, and then connecting to a hydrant to transition to a sustained water source. Repetition builds muscle memory and ensures our crews can perform these critical tasks quickly and efficiently.

With the training objectives complete and temperatures still high, the crews wrapped up the evening with a little friendly competition in some hose wars—a fun way to cool off while continuing to practice teamwork and hose-handling skills.
