Tomorrow is the National DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the South Lyon Police Department is a drop off location between 10am and 2pm. For the take back day we can not accept needles, aerosols, or unsealed liquids.

I have just been informed that the High School Senior Water Wars have either started or are about to start. From my understanding, this is a game the high school seniors play near the end of the school year where they try to spray each other with water guns and once you've been sprayed your done. We are not condoning this but trying to make the public aware it's happening. We mention this because we have received calls from concerned residents in the past about suspicious people in their back yards or hiding in bushes outside their homes. When the responding Officers arrive they find out it's a fellow classmate waiting to spray the person when they come out of their home. A picture of a student with their water gun was recently shared with us and at a quick glance the water gun could certainly be mistaken for a real gun.

Last night the Citizens police Academy went to the Oakland County Medical Examiners Office for a tour and presentation from the Chief Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathologist Dr. Dragovic. A big thank you to Dr. Dragovic and Administrator Miarka for staying late to speak with us and show us around their facility.

The Lakes Area Citizens Police Academy started up last night and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The Chiefs of Police were there to welcome everyone for their first day. We also had members of the Special Response Team who talked about their operations and procedures. Last but certainly not least Novi Police Officer Geilow talked about drone operations and all the law enforcement applications for this great tool. In the pictures below the Citizens Police Academy members can be seen sitting in the back of the Special Response Team’s armored vehicle. Officer Geilow can also be seen below talking about the drone.
