🚶‍♀️🚦Our Safe Streets demonstration is up at 11th & Milwaukee!

In partnership with Milwaukee County, the City has installed new pedestrian activated flashing signs and temporary curb extensions at 11th Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue. These temporary improvements will help us test ways to shorten crossing distances and improve pedestrian visibility.

👏 A big thank you to our Streets Department for getting everything installed today!

This project is funded in part through the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program.

🌿 BRANCH COLLECTION REMINDER 🌿

The next Branch Collection will take place September 7–11.

📅 Holiday Pickup Change: Monday’s garbage collection will be pushed to Friday, September 11.

A few important reminders for branch collection:

✅ No need to call the Street Department to schedule a pickup.
✅ Branch piles must not exceed 12 cubic yards.
✅ Branches must be placed at the curb on your garbage collection day. They may be placed at the curb the night before.
✅ Branches may be picked up from the alley, but whenever possible, please place them along the street side. This makes it easier for collection crews and equipment to safely and efficiently complete their work.

🎉 Congratulations on Your Retirement, Karen! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Karen Skowronski on her retirement from the City of South Milwaukee! 💐

Karen began her career with the City in the Clerk’s Office in 1994 and has proudly served as City Treasurer since 2000. During her remarkable career, she earned the professional designation of Certified Municipal Treasurer of Wisconsin and became a trusted source of knowledge and guidance for the City and its residents.

Beyond her work at City Hall, Karen was also a devoted member of the Old-Fashioned Christmas Committee for decades, helping make this beloved South Milwaukee tradition special for our community year after year. 🎄❤️

Karen’s steadfast dedication, professionalism, and willingness to share her expertise have made a lasting impact on the City of South Milwaukee. She will be greatly missed!

Please join us in thanking Karen for her 32 years of dedicated service and wishing her a very happy and fulfilling retirement! 🌟
