Mayor Sheena Collum and the Village Council unanimously voted to promote Captain Adrian Acevedo to the rank of Deputy Chief.

Captain Acevedo has proudly served the South Orange Police Department since 1998. Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked in the Patrol Division, Community Relations Unit, Traffic Bureau, and the Essex County Auto Theft Task Force.

Captain Acevedo has been a pillar of the South Orange community, helping to strengthen both the Police Department and the community through his dedication, leadership, and service.

We thank Deputy Chief Acevedo for his years of service, commitment, and leadership, and we look forward to the positive impact he will continue to make in this new role. Congratulations, Deputy Chief Adrian Acevedo!

The South Orange Police Department is proud to announce the return of the South Orange Junior Police Academy!

📅 Dates: Monday, July 27 – Friday, July 31, 2026
💲 FREE Admission – No Fees
👥 Who Can Apply: South Orange residents ages 10–13

Participants will enjoy a fun and educational week filled with hands-on activities, team building, demonstrations, and firsthand exposure to various areas of law enforcement and public safety. This is a great opportunity for young residents to learn leadership, teamwork, and directly interact with South Orange Police Officers.
