โ˜€๏ธKeep your pets safe and cool during the summer heat. High temperatures can be very dangerous for our furry friends.

* Never leave pets in cars: Parked cars turn into ovens in minutes. Even with cracked windows, it is deadly.

* Test the pavement: Put your hand on the ground for seven seconds. If it is too hot for you, it burns their paws.

* Walk during cool hours: Exercise your pet in the early morning or late evening.

* Provide endless water: Keep fresh, cold water available at all times. Drop in ice cubes to keep it chilled.

* Create shady spaces: Make sure outdoor pets have a deep shade spot away from direct sun.

*Know the warning signs: Watch out for heavy panting, heavy drooling, and low energy.

If it's too hot for you outside, it is much too hot for them! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is officially here! June 1-November 30. While Oxford County is nestled beautifully inland, we are definitely not immune to the remnants of powerful tropical systems.

Historically, tracking storms can bring heavy inland rainfall, flash flooding, and strong winds that knock out power across Maine. Now is the perfect time to get your household ready before any storms threaten our area.

Here is how you can prepare today:

*BUILD AN EMERGENCY KIT: Stock up on non-perishable food, water, flashlights, batteries, and first-aid supplies

*CLEAR YOUR YARD: Trim dead tree branches and secure loose outdoor furniture that could become dangerous projectiles in high winds.

*PLAN FOR POWER OUTAGES: Ensure your generators are serviced, have extra fuel stored safely, and keep your devices fully charged.

*STAY INFORMED: Download local weather apps and sign up for emergency alerts.

Let's look out for our neighbors and stay safe this season
