The Wreaths Across America convoy will once again be stopping in Portland this Sunday, December 11th as they make their way down to Arlington National Cemetery to lay wreaths on the graves of our fallen soldiers.

This year there will be a parade down Congress Street starting at 6pm. We are asking everyone to come out to line the sides of Congress Street (from Longfellow Square all the way down to Monument Square) to show your support as they travel through our city.

Military Veterans, Gold and Blue Star family members and area First Responders are being invited by the Wreaths Across America to participate in the parade down Congress Street.

26 years ago today SPFD was dispatched for a structure fire at Portland Welding Company(August 27, 1996). This fire eventually went to a 4 Alarm fire and brought in Mutual Aid from all over Cumberland and York Counties. That day, Captain Robert Wallingford of Engine 1 lost his life. Captain Wallingford had suffered a medical emergency at the scene, was transported but later died at Maine Medical Central. May we never forget Captain Wallingford and the sacrifices those took that day.

After two long years away ladder 42 and Cape Elizabeth Fire/Rescue ladder 65 have old glory flying high above RTE 77 for the beach to beacon road race. Goodluck to everyone running the race!

We were asked by the South Portland Food Cupboard to join the parade to celebrate the battle of the neighborhoods food drive. It is taking place this Sunday from 12-1, starting at the Willard fire station! Show your support!
