⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WARNING ⚠️

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 2:30 AM Monday for North Coventry Township and the surrounding area.

Flooding is already occurring, and additional rainfall is expected overnight. Conditions can change rapidly.

🌧️ Flooding is especially dangerous at night.

Darkness makes it difficult to see flooded roadways, washed out shoulders, or debris. Water may appear shallow, but even a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road.

🚗 Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
Never drive through flooded roadways.

Please use extra caution around:
• Low-lying areas
• Creeks and streams
• Underpasses
• Roads prone to flooding

📱 Have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts and keep your phone charged overnight.

🏠 If you live in an area prone to flooding, remain alert and be prepared to move to higher ground if conditions worsen.

🚨 Report emergencies to 911.

Stay informed. Stay alert. Stay safe.

⚠️ Heat Advisory Continues Through Friday ⚠️

It will be another hot and humid day across North Coventry, with dangerous heat continuing through Friday evening.

Yes, it’s an oven out there… no, you can’t cook in it. 😄

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area, with heat index values around 100° or higher expected. In addition, much of the region is experiencing a Major HeatRisk, meaning heat-related illnesses become more likely, especially for those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

A few reminders:

🥤 Drink plenty of water.

🏠 Stay in air-conditioned locations whenever possible.

👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.

👵 Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone without reliable cooling.

🐾 Make sure pets have access to shade and fresh water.

⛈️ Isolated severe thunderstorms are also possible tonight and again Friday afternoon and evening, with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern.

While not everyone will experience severe weather, now is a good time to make sure phones are charged and you have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.

Additional heat safety information is available from Chester County Department of Emergency Services at chesco.org/heat.

We’ll continue to share updates if conditions change.

☀️ Extreme Heat Health Alert Issued for Chester County

The Chester County Health Department has issued an Extreme Heat Health Alert for Wednesday, June 10 through Saturday, June 13, due to forecast high temperatures and dangerous heat index values.

🌡️ Heat index values around 100° are possible Thursday and Friday, with warm overnight temperatures providing little relief.

As we head into the first significant heat event of the season, please take a few extra precautions:

💧 Stay hydrated.

🏠 Spend time in air conditioning whenever possible.

🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

👵 Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone who may not have adequate cooling.

🐶 Ensure pets have access to shade and fresh water.

⛈️ A few strong thunderstorms are also possible during the week.

Additional heat safety information is available from the Chester County Health Department at chesco.org/heat.

Stay weather aware and take care of one another during this stretch of hot weather.

Here come the summer storms a little early.

The 4 PM update from the National Weather Service has increased the concern for damaging winds this evening. Damaging winds remain the primary threat, and some storms could produce wind gusts over 75 mph. Hail is also possible, and while the tornado threat remains low, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Storms are expected to move into our area around 7 PM and continue through the evening.

📱 Make sure you have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.
🔋 Charge devices now.
🌳 Secure loose outdoor items.

We’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

🔊 Residents and visitors may hear outdoor warning sirens at various times throughout the day today as additional testing and maintenance activities are conducted within the Limerick Generating Station Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ).

This is a planned activity and does not indicate an emergency.

No action is required.

As a reminder, outdoor warning sirens are intended to alert residents and visitors to seek additional information during an emergency. The sirens are NOT a signal to evacuate. In the event of an actual emergency, residents should tune to local Emergency Alert System (EAS) television or radio broadcasts and follow instructions provided through Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), ReadyChesCo notifications, local media outlets, and official county and municipal emergency management channels.

Stay aware. Stay informed. Stay safe.

🚨 TODAY’S LIMERICK SIREN TEST — 2 PM 🚨

Just a reminder that the semi-annual full-volume siren test for the Limerick Generating Station is scheduled for TODAY at 2:00 PM.

Residents throughout North Coventry Township may hear the outdoor warning sirens for approximately 2 minutes as part of this scheduled test.

As a reminder, all of North Coventry Township is located within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) for Limerick.

Especially for some of our newer residents — hearing these sirens during scheduled testing is completely normal and does NOT indicate an emergency.

And yes… this is separate from the firehouse siren. 😅

🚨 This is only a test. No action is required.

If there were ever an actual emergency at the plant, residents would receive additional instructions through:
• Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
• Emergency Alert System (EAS)
• ReadyChesCo notifications
• Local radio & television broadcasts
• Official county and municipal emergency management channels

Please help spread the word so residents know what to expect this afternoon.

📍 HAVE YOU HEARD OF what3words? 📍

what3words is a free app that has divided the world into 10ft x 10ft squares and assigned each square a unique combination of three words. Every location in the world has its own unique 3-word address.

The app can be useful in parks, along trails, along the Schuylkill River, or in other locations where a traditional street address may not be available or easy to describe.

The app uses your phone’s GPS signal to determine your location and display the corresponding 3-word address for where you are standing. If needed, those three words can be shared to help identify a specific location.

In Chester County, location information, including what3words, is widely available to the Chester County Emergency Communications Center when a 9-1-1 call is placed.

While not required, it may be another useful tool for hikers, walkers, anglers, kayakers, and anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors.
