We are learning that the individual who was killed yesterday during the assassination attempt in Butler, PA was a former Chief of the "Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company", and that he died shielding his wife and children from the gunfire. His name is Corey Comperatore. Another example of a hero who's life was taken far too soon. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and fellow firefighters in their time of sorrow.
Rest easy hero, we'll take it from here.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected in the tragedy this evening. At the same time we need to implore the people of town. PLEASE REMEMBER...our trucks getting to the scene are more important than your cell phone videos. Stopping in front of, and blocking our apparatus from getting to the scene is never appropriate. Cell phone videos are a dime a dozen, human lives are not. Please consider your actions.

For all our friends and followers that would like to place orders for Mother's Day flowers...order forms/flyers may be picked up in the dispenser near the front door of the Appleby Ave. Firehouse. The forms can then be dropped off with payment on any of the dates listed on the flyer. Order forms are also available from our members on the dates and times listed.

Today's the day!! Starting today we'll be taking orders for our Mother's Day Flower fundraiser. We will be at the Appleby Ave. Firehouse Saturday and Sunday (April 27th and 28th) and Sunday (May 5) from 10am - noon, and May 1st, 3rd, 6th and 8th from 6pm - 8pm.
Show Mom how much you care, while supporting your local fire company!!!

We're Back!!! Our 2nd Annual Mother's Day Flower Fundraiser will be taking place the last week of April, and the first week of May. Show Mom how much you care about her this Mother's Day, and help support your local fire company at the same time! Orders will be taken at the Appleby Ave. Firehouse from 6pm - 8pm on May 1st, 3rd, 6th and 8th, and from 10am - 12pm on April 27th, 28th and May 5th. Order forms will be available at the firehouse when ordering, and may also be picked up after hours at the dispenser by the front door of the firehouse.

This is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! From all of the members of Summit Engine Company, and the South River Fire Department, we would like to thank the Dispatchers of the South River Police Department for being the glue that holds everything together!

Interesting photo from 1908 showing the South River Fire Department in front of Borough Hall on Main St. At the time, the building housed the Fire Department, which was housed on the left side of the building in the area which is now the Records Bureau of the Police Department, the Police Department, which had a cell block in the basement of the building, and the Star Theater, which was upstairs in the area that is now the Court Room / Council Chambers.

Love doesn't take a snow day, and neither do we! We will still be distributing Valentine's Day Flower orders today between 5pm and 8pm at the Appleby Avenue Firehouse.
So you don't have to get out of your car in the weather, we will again be using our drive-through method for pick ups. Simply drive around the back of the building and pull into the open bay door where our members will retrieve your order for you.
