South River Fire Department Welcome to the Official Facebook of the South River Fire Department The South River Fire Department was first organized on February 24, 1896.

The first firehouse was located on Ferry Street and was occupied by Protection Hook & Ladder Company and Washington Hose Company. Church and school bells were used to alert approximately 70 men who responded to fires with hand-drawn wagons carrying hoses and ladders. In the early 1900s, South River purchased its first motorized fire engine and the two existing companies merged to form Engine Compa

Just a friendly reminder to please keep fire hydrants clear of snow and ice. It takes just a few minutes to shovel out a fire hydrant and those minutes could be livesaving if a fire breaks out. Critical time is wasted when firefighters arrive on the scene and have to dig out a fire hydrant that has not been cleared.

We thank you for your assistance and stay safe!

I have a suggestion for this year!!! This is an app that my friends town used to follow Santa. I feel this would help family’s with having their children not miss Santa and keep their spirits UP with everything going on.
