We are very sad that we could not properly honor our fallen heroes this year due to restrictions placed upon us. We are so grateful and appreciative of their ultimate sacrifice for all of us. We are also so grateful to our Veterans for their bravery and sacrifice. We work together with their guidance throughout the year planning our Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade. God Bless you all. With the greatest respect, we continue to hold you all so dearly in our hearts and are forever thankful to you all.

We mourn the death of our fallen hero, one of South River’s own, Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. As Officer Sicknick was a South River Native, this heartbreaking news is all the more devastating. We are always saddened by the loss of life. This loss brings a shaking reminder that events that may not appear to affect us in our day-to-day lives are in fact just a breath away from touching us personally. We may not agree and may not be perfect in our thoughts and deeds but in God’s eyes we, as his children are perfect. So, we must strive to prove ourselves worthy of this gift of life and celebrate all of God’s children no matter what our differences may be. This is a time to come together, grieve together, respect each other’s differences, and strive to make this a better place for ourselves, our children, our town, and our country. God Bless you Officer Sicknick, God Bless your family, God Bless our town and God Bless our Country.🙏

To support the South River Food Bank, we have signs thanking our COVID-19 warriors available for free to anyone who can donate a bag of food to the Food Bank. Message us, leave a bag of food on your front porch for non-contact pickup. We will leave this sign on your front porch or lawn and deliver the items to the Food Bank.
Food items especially needed: Canned meat, canned soup, rice-a-roni, pasta roni, hamburger helper, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, rice, mashed potato packages, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items. Of course any donation is appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.

Every year the Cultural Arts and Heritage Commission proudly coordinates the South River Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. Sadly, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and following the Governor’s Orders along with the direction of our local authorities, we are unable to do so this year. Again, there will be no parade or public ceremony this year. Please stay safe and proudly display your American flag on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th in honor of our fallen heroes. Thank you and God Bless.

*** South River Day 2020 ***

As a result of the COVID-19, we must sadly postpone the aforementioned event to a later date. While this decision comes at a time of global uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials. South River Day awaits us all next year! Stay safe everyone...
