Hot weather can be tough on our trees, especially young and newly planted trees.

Residents are encouraged to give trees a little extra care during these hot, dry days. If you have a tree watering bag, please check it regularly and refill it as needed. During dry periods, trees without watering bags can also benefit from slow, deep watering around the root area.

A little water now can make a big difference in helping our community trees stay healthy and strong!

The South St. Paul Armour Gate Memorial Task Force is seeking community ideas for the vision of the South St. Paul Stockyards Memorial.

The historic bricks and gates of the South St. Paul Stockyards once marked the world’s largest stockyard operation and symbolize industry, hard work, resilience, and community. The Stockyards Gates Memorial aims to preserve this legacy and create a place for future generations to learn, reflect, and connect with our shared history.

We invite everyone—students, artists, historians, former employees, residents, newcomers, or anyone with an idea—to help envision the memorial. No architectural or technical skills are needed. Sketches, descriptions, photos, stories, or other ideas are welcome. The more detail you provide, the better we can understand your vision.

Every idea will help shape a memorial that reflects South St. Paul’s history, values, and spirit.

A printable Community Idea Proposal Form is available here:
