🚨 Community Reminder from the Lewisboro Police Department 🚨

Please remember to lock your vehicles at night and remove any valuables before going inside. Many overnight thefts from vehicles occur when doors are left unlocked and items such as wallets, purses, cash, electronics, and garage door openers are left in plain view.

A few simple steps can help prevent becoming a victim:
🔒 Lock your car doors
💡 Turn on exterior lighting
🎒 Remove valuables or keep them out of sight
🏡 Secure garage doors and home entry points
📹 Consider using security cameras if available

If you notice suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please contact the Lewisboro Police Department immediately.

Working together, we can continue to keep our community safe.

One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up. Many Americans understand the lifesaving value of the seat belt – the national use rate was at 91.2% in 2024. Seat belt use in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 14,955 lives in 2017.
In 2024, 22,713 passenger vehicle occupants were killed. Nearly 50% of those killed were not buckled (based on known seat belt use).
Seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives and could have saved an additional 2,549 people if they had been wearing seat belts, in 2017 alone.
The consequences of not wearing, or improperly wearing, a seat belt are clear.

We truly appreciate the staff at WMC from day one at the emergency room through the seven days that followed in the burn unit. PO Briggs came a long way during those days because of the incredible care he received. Now onto the next phase of his recovery. Thank you to all that treated Joe and to all that came for this overwhelming show of support upon his discharge from the hospital.

The Lewisboro Police Department is releasing the following statement regarding a residential structure fire that occurred in the Cross River hamlet of town on Thursday, April 16.

On that date, Lewisboro Police officers responded to reports of a house fire with initial information indicating that two individuals were trapped inside. Two officers entered the residence to assist those in danger and were immediately met with a flashover condition. Both sustained injuries and were transported to Westchester Medical Center. One officer was treated and released later that evening, while the second remains in the Burn Center Intensive Care Unit.

We are grateful that both officers are expected to recover. Their courageous actions exemplify the highest standards of our profession and reflect an unwavering commitment to protecting life.

Our thoughts are with the victims, the family involved, the emergency personal that responded, as well as our officers and their families. We extend our sincere appreciation to Supervisor Goncalves and Councilman Sklarin for their immediate and continued support of our injured officers.

Further updates will be provided as appropriate.

Come see a familiar Lewisboro PD Officer at this upcoming event.

CarFit is a community-based educational program created in 2006 in collaboration by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The program promotes continued safe driving and mobility among older drivers by focusing on safety, comfort, and fit in a driver's personal vehicle.

Location: Putnam Hospital, 670 Stoneleigh Ave., Carmel, NY, 10512
Date: April 18th, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM - 02:00 PM (EDT)

At a CarFit event, a team of trained technicians and/or health professionals work with each participant to ensure they "fit" their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety. A CarFit check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Spring is warming up, and that means more walkers and cyclists are back out on New York’s roads. Let’s make sure everyone gets where they’re going safely.

We hear it all the time - Some people think it's okay to bike against traffic or walk on the right side of the road, but both are very dangerous.

🚲 Ride your bike on the right, with traffic.
🚶 Walk on the left, facing traffic.

Simple choices make a big difference.
Let’s look out for each other this spring.

Dear Residents and Commuters,
Please be advised that Oscaleta Road, between Twin Lakes Road and South Shore Drive, is closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic until further notice. This long-term closure is due to a culvert collapse.
Please plan accordingly and seek alternate directions.
