On June 10, 2026 at approximately 6:57 PM, South San Francisco firefighters responded to a reported structure fire near the 2000 Block of Greendale Dr. The initial reports by the homeowner indicated a possible fence fire near that address. Fire crews arrived to find the fire had extended into the wall spaces of two adjoining homes and was actively burning into the void spaces. North County Fire Authority and the San Bruno Fire Department assisted our firefighters in extinguishing the fire and limiting its spread. Two people were medically treated with one requiring transport to a local area hospital. A total of 10 residents were displaced from their homes and received short term accommodations by the collaborative efforts of our Emergency Services Captain Ken Anderson and the Red Cross. A South San Francisco fire investigator was requested to the scene, and the preliminary investigation indicated the fire may have started in the backyard and spread into the home. The building department arrived and red tagged two homes due to the damage. South San Francisco fire crews remained on scene through the night on fire watch to ensure the fire was extinguished. No firefighter injuries were reported.
