Many people are speculating on what a Kamala Harris presidency would actually look like. But it doesn’t actually take any speculation at all. Not even a “deep dive”.
You may have forgotten but she actually ran for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 election. It’s easy to forget because she dropped out of the race before any votes were cast at all due to her low poll numbers. But we DID actually hear her positions on many things from the start of the race in 2019. You only have to go back that far to hear the words out of her own mouth.
Here’s a list in no particular order:
1- She sponsored a bill in the Senate that would implement a $6000 yearly universal basic income which would cost trillions of dollars and, of course, lead to massive inflation.
2- She is in favor of reversing or letting expire in 2025 the Trump tax cuts which would increase taxes by $5 trillion. Nearly 80% of those cuts affect households making less than $300k per year.
3- She wants to eliminate ALL student loan debt and guarantee free college for everyone to the tune of trillions of dollars.
4-She wants to ban fracking entirely. I’m sure folks in PA and OH are thrilled to hear that.
5- She wants to cap rent at 30% of the tenant’s income. Which of course means that landlords simply won’t rent to anyone at all who is not making huge sums of money. She suggested possibly combating that by (wait for it) having tax payers pick up anything beyond that 30%.
6- She wants to increase taxes to support free health care for everyone and ban private health insurance entirely. (Not like that would destroy an entire industry along with the jobs of those involved)
7- She wants a government mandatory gun “buy back” program and making owning ALL guns illegal. Basically complete confiscation.
8- She opposes the death penalty in favor of life without parole.
9- She wants to decriminalize illegal border crossings.
Fun fact: In 2019 she was voted the most liberal Senator in the US Senate by two separate non-partisan agencies. Which puts her to the LEFT of even Bernie Sanders.
You don’t have to go down the rabbit hole too far to see what it would look like. Just to her last Presidential run. Just listen to her own words. But if you think that bothers you then dig into her record further back. But you don’t have to.
