Temporary Political Sign Regulations and Removal
As the election season approaches, residents, candidates, and campaign organizations are reminded that Section 32-5 Temporary sign regulations govern temporary signs. All signs must comply with all applicable local ordinances and regulations governing placement within the community.
Temporary signs are prohibited within public rights-of-way, roadway medians, intersections, utility easements, and other restricted public areas. Signs placed in these locations may create safety hazards, obstruct visibility, interfere with public infrastructure, or otherwise violate local regulations.
To ensure public safety and maintain compliance with local codes, City staff, FDOT, and Brevard County conduct routine inspections and area-wide removal efforts throughout the election season. Noncompliant signs located in prohibited areas may be removed without prior notice in accordance with applicable ordinances.
Candidates, campaign representatives, and property owners are encouraged to verify sign placement requirements before installing temporary political signs. Compliance with these regulations helps protect public safety, preserve community aesthetics, and ensure fair and consistent enforcement for all parties.
