🎉 🎉 2 WEEKS AWAY!! Our 2026 National Night Out event is approaching fast and we never thought we would have to do this, but we are no longer taking vendors for this year's event.

The interest shown already has been overwhelming compared to years past and we want to make sure all of our attendees can take the time to visit all the great vendors and presenters we already have booked!

Saturday 07/10/2026 South Toms River OEM attended South Toms River Recreations Summer Camp, we were able to share with the Children what Emergency Management & CERT does for the community and show some of the Equipment we use during our Responses to incidents and Pre-planned events!

The Borough of South Toms River is advising residents and visitors that Crab Road at Atlantic City Boulevard is CLOSED due to LIVE power lines down across the roadway.

🚧 This section of roadway is NOT PASSABLE.

🌡️ EXTREME HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT 🌡️
Wednesday through Saturday

The Borough of South Toms River is urging all residents to prepare for several days of dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity. Heat index values could reach 100–110°F, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Please take a few minutes to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your pets.

☀️ HEAT SAFETY TIPS
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
⏰ Limit strenuous outdoor activities between 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
👴 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance.
👶 Never leave children or infants in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute.
🐶 Keep pets indoors or in shaded areas with plenty of fresh water. Walk them during the early morning or late evening, and remember that pavement can burn their paws.

🚨 Know the Warning Signs
Heat exhaustion can quickly become life-threatening heat stroke.

With a Code Red Heat Advisory in effect, the Borough of South Toms River has opened a cooling shelter in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building for any resident in need of relief from the dangerous heat.

The South Toms River Police Department is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals ready to join in serving our community. This is for a Part-Time, Waiver eligible, SLEO II Certified Police Officer.

Rate: $23 per hour
Hours: Minimum 30 per week with the possibility of additional specialized details.

Requirements:

At least 18 years old
Must be a United States citizen and a resident of New Jersey
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Possess and maintain a valid New Jersey Driver's license
Must possess an active, valid New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) SLEO II certification
Must be able to meet requirements for PTC Licensing
Must be able to pass pre-employment background

🚨 BOROUGH OF SOUTH TOMS RIVER OEM ALERT 🚨

🚨🚨🚨🚨UPDATE WATER IS RESTORED as of 07:03am 🚨🚨🚨🚨

Residents in the Dover Road / Flint Road / Center Street / Mill Street area may currently be experiencing a water service disruption or low water pressure due to an unplanned water main outage.

🚧 Veolia Water crews are currently on scene making emergency repairs. Crews are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Residents in the affected area are advised to:

💧 Conserve water usage until service is restored
🚱 Avoid running washing machines, dishwashers, or other high-demand appliances
⚠️ If water appears discolored after service returns, run cold water from a faucet for several minutes until clear
🥤 Keep bottled water available for drinking and essential needs
🔥 If you observe a significant loss of pressure or any roadway flooding, report it immediately

Please use caution while traveling through the area due to utility crews and equipment operating in the roadway.

🌀 HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE 🌀

Hurricane Season officially runs from June 1st through November 30th. While forecasts may predict a quieter season overall, it only takes ONE storm to significantly impact our community.

Now is the time for residents to prepare before severe weather threatens our area.

✅ Preparation Tips for South Toms River Residents:

🔋 Check generators and fuel supplies now
🛒 Stock emergency supplies including water, food, batteries, flashlights, and medications
📻 Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and emergency notifications
📑 Review insurance policies and important documents
🚗 Keep vehicles fueled and ready in case travel becomes necessary
🐾 Prepare plans for pets, seniors, children, and family members with medical needs
🌳 Secure outdoor furniture, garbage cans, and loose items that could become hazards during strong winds
📱 Charge phones and backup battery packs ahead of storms

Remember:
