🚔🚲🛴 PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDER 🛴🚲🚔

As the weather gets nicer, we have been receiving an increasing number of complaints regarding the operation of electric scooters, electric dirt bikes, and e-bikes within the borough. Citizens are calling 911 reporting that both adults and juveniles are operating these vehicles illegally, not following traffic laws, and creating safety concerns throughout the community.

We want to remind everyone that our goal is not to ruin anyone’s fun — we simply want everyone to stay safe and follow Pennsylvania law so we can prevent accidents and injuries.

Please keep the following in mind:

• Electric scooters and electric dirt bikes are intended for private property use only and are not legal to operate on borough streets or sidewalks. 🛴

• Riders are expected to obey all traffic laws and traffic patterns. This includes stopping at stop signs, traveling in the correct direction of traffic, and yielding to pedestrians. 🚦

• Helmets are strongly encouraged for all riders and are an important safety measure, especially for younger operators. ⛑️

• Under Pennsylvania State law E-bikes must have operable pedals and, operators must be at least 16 years of age. 🚲

We understand these vehicles are popular and enjoyable to ride, but unsafe operation creates concerns for pedestrians, motorists, and nearby residents. We ask parents and riders to review the rules and help keep our community safe.

If any children are in need of a bicycle helmet contact our agency and we will donate one to them while supplies last. Or they can contact the SRO and we will have one sent to school for them.

This bike was found at a resident's home this morning. If it is yours or you know anyone that is missing a bike it is at the Sayre Police Department.

*** Renewal by Anderson will be operational in South Waverly Borough from March 24, 2026, to March 30, 2026, with no operations scheduled for weekends. Residents may anticipate visits from their representatives, who have undergone background checks conducted by local law enforcement. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and cautious.
