Last night, Cabo Verdeans United had the incredible honor of hosting the Federação Cabo-verdiana de Futebol Tubarões Azuis VIP Welcome Celebration at Centreville Bank Stadium, and our hearts are filled with gratitude.

To our sponsors, thank you for believing in our mission and helping make this special event possible. Your generosity not only created a memorable evening for our guests, but also supports our ongoing work to improve the lives of children throughout Cabo Verde through play, education, healthcare, and community development.
To our distinguished guests, elected officials, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and supporters, thank you for joining us in celebrating a historic moment for Cabo Verde. Your presence reminded us of the strength and unity of our community and the pride we all share in our heritage.

Most importantly, we extend our deepest gratitude to the players, coaches, and leadership of the Tubarões Azuis and the Cabo Verde Football Federation. Thank you for spending the evening with us, sharing your time with our guests, and inspiring a generation of young Cabo Verdeans around the world.

For 25 years, CVU has worked to build playgrounds, provide educational resources, deliver medical assistance, and create opportunities for children throughout Cabo Verde. Last night reminded us why that work matters. Somewhere, a child is watching this team and realizing that dreams can come true. The Tubarões Azuis have shown our children, and the world, that no dream is too big and no island is too small.

As the team prepares for their historic FIFA World Cup qualifying journey, we join Cabo Verdeans everywhere in wishing them continued success. Know that an entire nation and diaspora stand proudly behind you.

In the midst of the continued VIP Event planning, this week Cabo Verdeans United was able to order the playscapes from Gorilla Playsets for this year’s trip to São Nicolau.

In continuing our partnership with Heart to Heart International, 1000 hygiene kits (pictured below) as well as possibly 1000 feminine kits are in process.

Cabo Verdeans United Organization Cancels Gala to Support Unified Tubarões Azuis Celebration

Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut – 05/14/2026 - Cabo Verdeans United Organization (CVU) has announced the cancellation of its June 7, 2026, Tubarões Azuis Celebration Gala. Full refunds will be automatically issued to gala sponsors and ticket holders.

CVU has decided to support a larger and free community celebration hosted by the City of Pawtucket in collaboration with the Cabo Verdean Football Federation on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

In the spirit of unity, CVU will instead host a VIP cocktail reception with the Tubarões Azuis Team, Coaches and Leadership team, at the Rhode Island Football Club (newly built soccer stadium) private lounge, in Pawtucket, RI. This exclusive event will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on June 7, 2026. VIP tickets will be available for purchased at the CVU website shortly.

“Although this was not our original plan, CVU is proud to support a unified celebration that brings our entire community together in honor of Tubarões Azuis and this historic moment,” said Genie Lomba, President of CVU.
