Southampton Town Democratic Committee

Southampton Town Democratic Committee As of August 2020, the Town of Southampton has 14,510 registered Democrats (vs. 11,946 Republicans, and 2,085 Independence).

Southampton Democrats support ethical and committed individuals who care about our environment, sustainability, opportunity, and lead toward a better future for all. The Southampton Town Democratic Committee represents the Democratic Party in the Town of Southampton, NY.* Our primary function and responsibility is to identify, select and support candidates who run for election on the Democratic li

ne. Members of the Committee are Southampton Town residents who are registered Democrats recommended by the Chairman, appointed by the Chair of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee and certified by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, after completion of the petitioning process. Our Committee members work on election campaigns, including getting out the vote on Election Day, fund raising, event planning, outreach and member recruitment, gathering signatures on nominating petitions for our candidates and on many other activities. Southampton Town also has a Democratic Club, a separate but partner organization: the JP Spata Southampton Democratic Club https://www.shdemclub.com. The Committee posts the Club's events on this Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/SHDEMS). Members of the Club do not have to be registered Democrats. The Club holds public breakfast meetings 9 times a year, offering programs that address local as well as regional issues and an opportunity for the public to talk with elected officials and candidates. Reservations for Club breakfasts are recommended, as space may be limited. For questions, or to make reservations, please contact Joy Flynn, Club President, at [email protected].

*The Town of Southampton covers over 153 square miles, includes seven incorporated villages and sixteen hamlets, the Shinnecock Nation on 750 acres of self-governing land, and in 2019, had a population of circa 60,000 full-time residents. The total assessed market valuation of the town for the 2017/2018 tax year was approximately $67 billion: the largest portion of the municipality's high valuation is the 200 miles of waterfront.

Lean in early, lean in now - knock doors for Chris Gallant for Congress

Right now, nearly 9 out of 10 Americans disapprove of Congress.

That’s not just a statistic, it’s a reflection of how disconnected Washington has become from the people it’s supposed to serve.

We don’t fix this by talking at each other. We fix it by showing up, listening, and working together.

Join Team Gallant - every volunteer matters. Every voice matters.

DEMOCRATS PROUDLY DELIVER ONCE AGAIN FOR OUR COMMUNITIES!

The Southampton Town Board, under the leadership of Supervisor Maria Moore, passed a resolution to adopt the New York State Pro-Housing Community Pledge. By seeking certification as a Pro-Housing Community, the Town aims to address a critical housing crisis that has priced out essential workers—such as healthcare professionals, teachers, and municipal staff—and threatened the ranks of local volunteer first responders.

Reaching this milestone involved navigating a complex public dialogue often clouded by misinformation. To address these concerns, the Board worked with other townships and New York State HCR to clarify and move in the right direction. The resolution joining the Pro-Housing program explicitly outlines the maintenance of Home Rule while enabling the town to gain significant funding opportunities to make housing affordable in our region.
