Tim Corwin for Southampton Town Trustee

Tim Corwin for Southampton Town Trustee I am running for Southampton Town Trustee and this is my campaign page. The Trustees are in charge o Churning should be banned in all the creeks.

The Trustees are in charge of the beaches and waterways in Southampton Town and the Board of Trustees date back to 1684. The Board of Trustees is completely independent of the Southampton Town Board and I want to keep it that way. There is a move afoot to have theTown Board take over the Trustees. This has happened in nearly every other town in New York State and the ONLY independent Trustee Board

s left are Southampton, East Hampton and Southold. I strongly feel that our Trustee Board should remain independent and should be as non-political as possible We are now facing major issues with beach access, especially as regards the right to drive on the beach. The Trustees are also involved with fertilizers, nitrates and herbicides running off into our bays. Shellfish restoration to improve water quality is a big issue. One of the projects I want to get involved with Is cleaning up Lake Agawam. I would like to make the lake clean enough to swim in and I have some great ideas on how to do this. I am a private pilot and I fly a really neat machine called a powered parachute(you can Google that). I have a whole library of fantastic aerial photographs of our waterways and beaches and will be posting many to Facebook. Please follow along as I keep adding to this site.

The absentee ballots have been counted and my final tally was 5072 votes, a very respectable showing for a first time candidate. Next time, I will know what I am doing and will win by a substantial margin. i want to thank everyone for their support.

When you go into the voting booth, the instructions will tell you to vote for any five Trustees. What they really mean is vote for UP TO FIVE. Just vote for the Trustees you want to win (hopefully Me and my running mates Bill Pell and Eric Schultz). With the Trustee election, there are eight candidates running for five spots. The five winners will be the individuals with the most votes. So, if you really only want to vote for three and you add two more because that is what it told you to do, you will have effectively cancelled two of your votes.

This summer, the Bridgehampton Beach Club tried to block off ALL access to their beach for non- members. Because of the pending lawsuits, our Trustee President, Ed Warner, along with his stalwart companions Ray Overton and Scott Horowitz did NOT want to fight this. They were afraid of becoming embroiled in yet another lawsuit. The Trustee's attorney also advised against going after the beach club. Fortunately, my running mates Bill Pell and Eric Schultz did NOT agree with this position. They went down to the beach club and threatened to sue the pants off them if they did not immediately remove the barricades. The beach club backed down and our rights were restored. If they had not done this, then we would now only be allowed to pass Bridgehampton Beach Club below the high water mark.

Jay Schneiderman received the Newsday endorsement for Southampton Town Supervisor over Richard Yastremski. Newsday feels that Schniederman's long term experience with Suffolk County Legislature will be very beneficial to him as Southampton's Supervisor. Newsday was also impressed with Jay's specific plans for local issues compared to Rich's more vague responses. I agree.

My five point plan will set up four permanent sanctuaries in strategic locations throughout the east end. The sanctuaries will be stocked with shellfish and carefully monitored by trained experts. When the shellfish populations multiply beyond critical mass, a limited harvest will be done and the catch will be transferred to conditional areas which will be open in season. Through the use of CPF funds, tax credits, county, state and federal grants, all septic systems within 1500 feet of the sanctuaries will be upgraded. Septic system upgrades will be done using local firms and local labor which will help the local economy. All of this will be accomplished with very limited cost to the taxpayers (who are already paying enough.).
