🌳 In his recent First Selectman’s Report, Tim O’Neil said he was pleased that landscaping improvements for Settlers and Ballantine Parks were approved. The enhancements will add colorful, long-lasting plantings that improve the beauty, enjoyment, and value of Southbury’s public spaces.
🔧 O’Neil noted that the town continues to address a significant backlog of deferred maintenance that accumulated over many years. Because these issues cannot be resolved all at once, projects will be prioritized based on funding, safety, maintenance needs, and long-term benefits. As Board of Finance Chair John Michaels said, the town will tackle these challenges “one bite at a time.”
🚜 Public Works crews have also been busy improving town properties by planting dogwood and flowering cherry trees, refreshing flower beds, spreading mulch, removing tree stumps, power washing memorial benches, and replacing worn carpeting at Parks and Recreation and the Senior Center with durable vinyl flooring.
