Every recipe has a story... and we'd love to hear yours.

Some recipes remind us of family dinners, holiday traditions, or the people who first taught us to cook. Those memories are just as meaningful as the ingredients.

Join us for Recipes & Stories: A Community Gathering on Saturday, October 17, from 11:00 AM–12:30 PM at the Southern Pines Public Library!

Now's the perfect time to:
📖 Pick a favorite recipe to share (bring copies if you can!)
📸 Find a photo that connects to it—a handwritten recipe card, a family gathering, the finished dish, or someone who made it special.

Together, we'll swap recipes, share stories, and help create a community cookbook celebrating the flavors and memories of our neighbors.

Start looking through those recipe boxes and photo albums—we can't wait to hear your story!

Cat lovers, you showed up!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us this afternoon for our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program! We had such a great conversation about community cats, TNR, and how we can all help make a difference.

A special thank you to Feline Friends of Moore County and Zoomies Funny Farms for being such wonderful presenters and sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion with us.

We loved seeing so much interest and hearing your questions and experiences. Thank you for making this such a fun and informative afternoon!

🎶 A is for Accordion! 🅰️

Yesterday at Little U, we learned all about the letter A—and got a very special musical surprise!

Our wonderful guest, Lorna Anderson, treated us to a little accordion music, making our afternoon of learning, singing, and playing extra special.

🍂 Introducing the Library's very first Halloween Boo-tique! 🎃👻

Help us make Halloween a little more magical for our community!

From September 19–October 2, we're collecting clean, gently used Halloween costumes and accessories for all ages to stock our Halloween Boo-tique—a free community costume shop at the library.

We're looking for:
🧙 Costumes for kids, teens, and adults
🎭 Masks, hats, wigs, capes, and other costume accessories
✨ Dress-up items in clean, gently used condition

Drop off your donations at the Southern Pines Public Library during regular library hours.

Then, join us for the Halloween Boo-tique on Tuesday, October 6, from 4:00–6:30 PM, where everyone is welcome to browse and take home a costume that's new to them—free of charge!

Whether you're clearing out last year's costume or helping another family celebrate Halloween, your donation can make a big difference.

Let's give costumes a second life and make Halloween fun for everyone!

Last week it was allllllllllllllll about the pollinators!

On Friday, August 21, participants joined the Great Southeast Pollinator Census and became citizen scientists for the afternoon!

Each participant selected a plant and spent 15 minutes carefully observing it, counting and identifying the insects stopping by for a visit.

The data collected was tallied by the Master Gardeners of Moore County and will be submitted to the Great Southeast Pollinator Census, helping researchers better understand pollinator populations across the Southeast.

A big thank-you to everyone who participated and helped us take a closer look at the busy world of pollinators!
