For over seven years, I have worked directly with people experiencing homelessness, hardship, and crisis through TEAM WORKZ. During that time, I’ve learned something important:

None of us are truly immune from tragedy.

A sudden illness.
The death of a loved one.
A catastrophic event.
Job loss.
Mental health struggles.

Any one of these can change a person’s life overnight and place them into circumstances they never imagined possible.

When I speak to groups about TEAM WORKZ and the people we help, I always remind them that many of those we serve once lived comfortable, successful lives. Some were wealthy. Some traveled the world. Some even received national recognition for their work and accomplishments.

Yet today, some of those same individuals are asking for a tent, a sleeping bag, and food just to survive another week.

No one ever believes it can happen to them — until it does.

I know this personally because I have also faced difficult times in my own life. That kind of hardship takes a serious toll mentally and emotionally. The depression, fear, and sadness are real. If you sit down and talk with people living on the streets, you will often see that pain in their eyes.

Some do recover. Some rebuild their lives. Some rise again and become productive members of society once more. Their stories are real, powerful, and inspiring — and I often share those stories when speaking to groups because people need to understand this reality can affect anyone.

The best way to truly help is not just to provide temporary relief, but to help create a WAY OUT.

That takes:
• Support
• Volunteers
• Partnerships
• Donations
• Compassion
• Community involvement

At TEAM WORKZ, we work alongside several amazing organizations to help people regain stability, dignity, and hope. Every situation we encounter is different, and every person’s story is unique.

But none of this work happens without the support of people like YOU.

Friday was filled will meetings to move TEAM WORKZ forward.
I will have some big announcements next week with several changes coming up.
It's been a hard struggle trying to operate a non-profit organization like TEAM WORKZ and keep above water. Funding is always a constant battle with all non-profit organizations.
TEAM WORKZ has been assisting many people since our Christmas Meal Event with varying issues.
It's challenging to have so many People in NEED and not be able to provide services they all need.
Our Resource Center, George continues to serve food and provide hygiene items. Christina continues to assist clients daily with applying for their Medicaid, Disability, obtaining ID's, getting medical assistance and more.
We are now having to deny many requesting hotel stays, due to the lack of funding.
Donations have been extremely low this year. We graciously APPRECIATE everyone Who has supported TEAM WORKZ this year.
Everything has increased in price and made it hard to keep up with demands.
For TEAM WORKZ to continue to offer services, we must have FUNDING.
IF you can please donate any amount, that would help. We have applied for several Grants, and even if we WIN them, it will be near the end of the year to receive them.
Go to our website www.teamworkz.org and use our secure link to donate. You can sign up to become a MONTHLY donor on there as well.
If you offer Grants or have FUNDING to offer, let me know.

TEAM WORKZ is still on part time (9 am- 1 pm) Monday - Friday at our Resource Center @ 152 South Stephens Street Southern Pines.
George is there daily to take your calls/accept donations/hand out food and answer questions.
Christina is our Social Services Administrator and works by appointment so she can better schedule time with her clients needing her assistance.
She has helped several file for their SS Disability, get copies of their birth certificates, schedule Doctor appointments, look for job and housing. Christina has been busy networking with our Partner organizations to make sure we all have access to the latest and best resources to help each others clients.
Big plans are in place now to help provide more housing for those seeking safe shelter and help qualifying for their benefits.
Call 910-315-0262 to speak to George and get your appointment to come in and get started with your needs. You have to be in person, with a valid ID, list of resources you have already contacted and what services you received so we don't duplicate them.
Once the Intake form is completed, an evaluation will be conducted by Christina and or myself to determine the best course of action to take in your case.
Thank you for your continued support.
