46th District Court

46th District Court 46th District Court is a court serving the communities of Southfield, Lathrup Village, Bingham Farms Beverly Hills and Franklin, MI to 4:30 p.m.

The Court is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m except for holidays. The Clerk Counter and Cashier are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. except for holidays. The 46th District Court encompasses Southfield, Lathrup Village, Beverly Hills, Franklin Village, Bingham Farms, and Southfield Township. The 46th District is served by three elected judges and two appointed magistrates, wit

h daily operations directed by Court Administrator Renee Shelide (telephone: (248) 796-5800), who is appointed by the judges. The 46th District Court has exclusive jurisdiction over:
◾all civil litigation up to $25,000.00
◾all criminal misdemeanors (where punishment does not exceed one year)
◾the arraignment, setting, and acceptance of bail and conducting of preliminary examinations in felony cases (where punishment exceeds one year imprisonment)
◾all traffic and parking violations
◾small claims disputes in which the claim does not exceed $5,500.00
◾all landlord-tenant disputes and land contract forfeitures

Tired of "Driving Dirty", without a valid license due to your inability to pay off your prior tickets? During our amnesty program at the 46th District Court, clear up all of your outstanding civil infractions, parking violations abd warrants on elugible misdemeanors so that you can get your driver's license back in order. We are rolling back all of the extra fines interest and penalties so that you can pay your tickets and warrants off at the original amount, thereby saving you hundreds of dollars in your effort to get your Driver's license restored. So act now and come in and pay reduced fees between April 6 and May 1, 2026.

The City of Southfield, including the 46th District Court, suffered a power outage as a result of last night's storm. The court and the City offices are currently closed and all morning dockets are canceled. The court will reopen at noon, assuming power is restored. As of now, the afternoon dockets are not canceled. The Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Lakeshore Legal Aid, The Wolverine Bar Association, The D.August Strsker Bar Association, The City of Southfield and The Southfield Police Dept.have partnered to sponsor an Expungement Fair on April 1, 2023. It's been such a funfilled month with several holiday parties each day but we're posting about my favorite one..the 46th District Court Holiday Party! We recognized our employees for their years of service and had fun times with the ugly sweater contest and white elephant gifts. Topped it off with a great meal thanks to Plum Hollow Country Club! Sign up to walk and support the "Walk to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence" during Domestic Violence Month, on October 2 in Southfield. This walk is sponsored by the Southfield Police Dept., Southfield Fire Dept and the 46th District Court, along with various community partners.

Domestic Violence is at an all time high in the community and this initiative raises awareness of the problem and seeks to offers solutions for victims and batterers.The first 500 registered will receive the free T shirt. See link below. I hope see you on October 2!
