National Congress of Black Women - Oakland County, MI Chapter "Women making a difference." The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. The organization was founded in 1984. Dr. C. DeLores Tucker succeeded her, and Dr. E.

(NCBW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, political, economic and cultural development of African American Women and their families. NCBW also serves as a nonpartisan voice and instrument on issues pertaining to the appointment of African American Women at all levels of government, and to increase African American women's participation in the educational, politica

l, economic and social arenas. Currently, NCBW provides opportunities for women for leadership and decision-making positions in government, nonprofit organizations and the private sector. Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm served as the First National Chair. Faye Williams is the current National Chair.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE SOUTHFIELD CITY CLERK

Southfield voters may have seen recent news about a U.S. Supreme Court decision involving elections. Here’s what you need to know:

If you are currently on Michigan’s Permanent Absentee Ballot List, your status has not changed.

You will continue to receive an absentee ballot for the upcoming midterm elections. You do not need to reapply or take any additional action because of the recent court decision.

The Supreme Court’s August 24 decision did not change Michigan’s voting laws. The case is still ongoing.

The Southfield City Clerk’s Office will continue to follow Michigan and federal election laws. If anything changes that affects Southfield voters, the City will share updates through its official communication channels.

Questions about your voter registration, absentee ballot status or upcoming elections? Contact the Southfield City Clerk’s Office or visit the City of Southfield website for official election information.

What a beautiful day celebrating community, leadership and excellence at our NCBW Oakland County Community Excellence Awards Brunch! ❤️✨

From our inspiring keynote speaker the Hon. Janis Hazel to celebrating our outstanding honorees and welcoming our newest members, the afternoon was filled with fellowship, joy and purpose. We were also honored to be joined by so many community leaders, elected officials, appointed officials and candidates who continue to show up in service to our communities!!

A very special thank you to our event chairs and the entire brunch committee for your time, vision, hard work and dedication in making today such a wonderful success. Events like this do not happen without a committed team working behind the scenes, and we are so grateful for each of you.
