But when it came time for the public to speak, they were cut off.

On H.B. 5044 and S.B. 450, hundreds showed up to be heard and many never got the chance.

Everyone should agree, shutting down public testimony isn’t “democracy.”

Packed in the nearly 100-page bill is a collection of threats to key local zoning controls, like reeling back parking minimums, high-density housing mandates, top-down affordable housing quotas, increased bureaucracy, and stripping citizens of their power to enact local zoning changes with onerous increases to thresholds needed for petitions.

The package of proposals was crafted behind closed doors, circumventing the important public input process.

In the aftermath of the historic storm this weekend, we have been inspired by our community coming together to help one another. The heroism of our first responders and the generosity of our citizens have set Southbury on a path to recovery.

Unfortunately, just as our neighbors began to rebuild their lives, Ed Edelson decided it was a good time to send a nasty text message trolling for votes.

It is inconceivable that Mr. Edelson would approve a message aimed at dividing our community when our unity and collective resolve will see us through this moment. His campaign stunt was callous, out of touch, and lacking in compassion. It was the exact opposite of what real leadership looks like.
True character is often revealed in the face of tragedy.

If this is the best Ed Edelson can offer citizens of the 69th District, maybe it's time his campaign retirED and let serious people lead.
