📚✏️ Happy first day of school, Southington!

Buses are rolling, backpacks are packed and our schools are full once again. Best of luck to every student walking in this morning, whether it’s your first day of kindergarten or your last first day of senior year.

Wishing our teachers, parents, bus drivers, staff and Board of Education members a great year ahead too. Thank you to everyone who works to make our schools a place where kids can learn and thrive.

Make sure to slow down in the school zones and watch for buses. Have a great school year!

Southington’s Republican-led boards continue to deliver responsible budgets, strong financial management and results for taxpayers.

During last month’s presentation of the Town’s latest audit, Southington’s independent auditor said it clearly: “Southington is in great financial shape.”

The Town ended the fiscal year with a $2.45 million surplus and passed a responsible 3.7% budget increase, one of the lowest in our area, while comparable municipalities averaged approximately 5%.

That’s the result of disciplined spending, careful planning and leadership focused on protecting taxpayers while maintaining the services our residents rely on.

Sound finances create a stronger future. We’re proud of our Republican-led boards for continuing to put Southington first through fiscal responsibility, accountability and results.

Strong Republican leadership. Strong Southington. 🇺🇸

Have you heard?👂

Rep. Chris Poulos, Rep. Rebecca Martinez and the Connecticut Democrats passed H.B. 5001, which is now law, restricting law enforcement from being within 250 feet of polling locations. They claim this is to “prevent voter intimidation.” Intimidation from what? The truth is, Connecticut Democrats are trying to protect illegal immigrants and promote chaos at our election locations!

We believe they have their priorities backward. At a time when voters want stronger integrity and confidence in our elections, Democrats chose to limit law enforcement instead of strengthening election security.

Republicans believe every legal vote should count, election laws should be enforced and law enforcement should have the ability to respond to legitimate threats.

Rep. Chris Poulos and Rep. Rebecca Martinez focused on citations and protecting illegals instead of supporting our police officers and securing our elections!

Secure elections build public trust, and Connecticut deserves nothing less.

Republican State Rep. candidates Tim Wilk and Rich Mette, if elected, will join our current Republican delegation and fight for stronger election laws and take real action that supports our police.

ALLEGED ELECTION-LAW VIOLATIONS IN SOUTHINGTON

On August 3, 2026, during early voting for the Democratic primary, Councilman Chris Palmieri and Councilman Dave Zoni, Southington Democratic Town Committee Chairman and Board of Finance member Steve Salerno, Southington Democratic Town Committee Vice Chairmen John Barry and Congressman John Larson were reportedly gathered at the Southington Library polling location.

A complaint filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) alleges that members of the group were engaging in political activity within the legally protected 75-foot zone. At the same time, voters and election workers were present.

Connecticut law is clear: campaigning and soliciting support for a candidate are prohibited within 75 feet of an entrance being used for a polling place.

According to the complaint, SEEC contacted the polling location and directed that the alleged activity be stopped. The complaint should now be investigated fully, and the facts should be made public.

Election laws apply to everyone—regardless of political party, elected position, or whether the person involved is a sitting member of Congress.

Southington residents deserve accountability, transparency, and polling locations free from political pressure or interference.
