REUNITED! Gracie is safe and reunited. A call came in this evening that she was spotted behind Mc Donalds. Her family went with CTDGRV volunteer Mike and Gracie’s dad Mike used calming signals and laying on the ground and Gracie slowly approached him. They were able to get a leash and collar on her. Great job by all! Gracie is going to the vets tomorrow. She has some cuts from prickers and of course ticks. Thank you to Southington Animal Control, people who called in sightings, CTDGVR Ben who flew his drone, CTDGRV Mike with his tracking dog Audrey, and CTDGRV Carol and her support and guidance given to the family. CTDGRV volunteer Steve who came out to search and CTDGRV Lisa who monitored cameras and searched . Welcome back Gracie! Wishing you many years of happiness and belly rubs.

Missing in Southington. The family is devastated and just want him home. She is extremely skittish and will run in fear if anyone she does not know tries to approach her. This is how you can help. If you spot her call the number immediately and provide the exact location and what the dog is doing. Do not try to get her attention she will run. She was last seen in a high traffic area and if still in the area we do not want to panic her and have her run into traffic. If you see her CALL immediately. Please share and help bing her home. Reunion pictures in comments!

We are feeling incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support through all of your donations. It truly means so much to us and to the animals in our care—your generosity helps us do what we do every single day. 🐾

We did want to share a quick reminder about donation guidelines. While we deeply appreciate every single item and the thought behind it, we are unfortunately unable to accept pillows, comforters, sheets, pillowcases, or other items with stuffing.

If you are looking to make a donation for bedding, we are always happy to accept towels and throw blankets, which are extremely helpful for the animals in our care.

Your kindness does not go unnoticed, and we are so thankful to have such an amazing, supportive community behind us. Thank you for continuing to think of and support animal control—it truly makes a difference! ❤️

During Animal Control Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible dedication and compassion shown by the animal control officers of Southington. Officer Karabin and Officer Doran.

Every day, these officers go above and beyond to protect both animals and the community. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a lasting impact — rescuing animals in need, responding to challenging situations, and ensuring the safety and well-being of pets and wildlife alike.

It takes patience, courage, and a genuine love for animals to do what they do. Whether it’s reuniting lost pets with their families, handling difficult calls, or showing kindness in the toughest circumstances, our officers represent the very best of public service.

Thank you for your tireless efforts, your compassion, and your commitment to making a difference every single day. Southington is lucky to have you. 🐾

🎉REUNITED 🎉
Wonderful update this morning. The family got a call from someone who spotted the dog and the dad and Southington Animal Control went out to the field where he was laying down. Kellan came right over to his dad. He had enough and now was ready to go home. Thank you to the person who called this morning and all the people who shared the post and sightings throughout his adventures. Great job done by the community, Southington Animal Control and the family! Thank You!

Missing from Southington. He is friendly but very scared. He may have an injured leg. We are asking the community to call in sightings with the exact location. Do not post, call. Our group would like to find a quiet area where he returns and set up for capture. This will only happen if he feels safe and not pursued. Please help and call so we get the information and locate an area. Do not chase, follow, or call out to him, he will run. Thank you please share.

🎉Another TERRIFIC Update!!🎉. Princess has been found and safe! Princess slipped out of her harness two days ago when something scared her. Mom called her and she started to come back but then decided, much to her mother’s horror, to go explore the woods. An immediate search was done but no one could locate her. The next day Mom contacted CTDGRV and along with Southington Animal Control, the search was back on. With the help of volunteers CTDGRV organized for posters to go up in the immediate area, and the drone to do a search of the area. Once the dog was spotted we would attempt to lure her to us, if possible. CTDGRV Carol planned to drop a trap if needed. Within 5 minutes the drone pilots Sean and Erica,, spotted a thermal image that looked like it could be the Princess. Erica went to the area of the drone and spotted Princess up against a fence next to a tree taking a nap. At the same time another volunteer Diane arrived and assisted Erica. Princess was scared but did not move and they were safely able to bring her to safety. Southington Animal Control took custody of her and cleaned her up a bit until her mom can pick her up. Big thank you to those involved: Sean and Erica our drone pilots who spotted her; CTDGRV Deb B and Patti who volunteered to put up posters; Diane who came out to help spot the dog; Carol who coordinated the search plan, trapping if needed, and community members who supported mom with well wishes. Welcome back to civilization Princess. Wishing you continued happiness in your life!

Adopted!

Meet Chloe 💕

Chloe is a 9-year-old female pit bull with a heart as big as her smile. She’s a sweet, gentle soul who loves people and does wonderfully with kids and other dogs. Chloe has the calm, loving nature that only comes with age—she’s past the puppy chaos and ready to enjoy cozy naps, leisurely walks, and being someone’s loyal companion.

Chloe is looking for a forever home where she can spend the rest of her life feeling safe, loved, and cherished. She doesn’t ask for much—just a soft place to rest, kind humans to love, and a family who will give her the chance she deserves.

If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate dog who will return your love tenfold, Chloe may be your perfect match. Please consider opening your heart and home to this special girl and giving her the happy ending she’s been waiting for. 🐾❤️
