As the Dragons kick off a new football season tonight, we’re throwing it back to a team that left its mark on Southlake history.

The 1988 Dragons entered the season with something to prove. After losing several seniors from the year before, some wondered whether they could match the success of the 1987 team. The Dragons had other plans. They went on to finish the season a perfect 16–0, including an unforgettable 42–13 victory over No. 1-ranked Daingerfield at Texas Stadium in the regional finals. The Dragons continued their dominant playoff run all the way to a state championship, laying the foundation for the tradition of excellence that generations of Dragons would carry forward.

More than three decades later, a new season begins and a new group of Dragons gets its chance to make history. Good luck tonight, Dragons!

Southlake’s volunteers chose to spend their summer giving back to the community. This summer, volunteers contributed 4,034 hours supporting City programs and services, from Camp Mania and Library programs to the Senior Center, Teen Court and more.

Their time, talents and enthusiasm made a meaningful difference in all of the programs they supported and the people they served, and we’re grateful for all their contributions this summer!
