As Southlake celebrates 70 years, we're looking back at the places - and connections - that have helped shape our community.
What started as a simple two-lane highway in the early 1930s has become one of Southlake's greatest advantages. Built along a former railroad corridor, State Highway 114 first connected local residents to Dallas and Fort Worth. As the region grew, so did the roadway - and so did the opportunities it created. Today, the modern freeway provides direct access to DFW International Airport, major employment centers, and communities across North Texas.
Today, Highway 114 does more than move traffic. It connects people to opportunity. Whether it's a morning commute, a business meeting, a flight out of DFW, or a weekend visit, it's one of the reasons Southlake feels connected to the rest of the Metroplex while still remaining distinctly Southlake. That connectivity has helped attract businesses, support local employers, welcome visitors, and strengthen the community over the decades.
Then, a road connecting communities. Now, a corridor connecting opportunity.
