Southold Library will host a book launch event for Matthew Daddona's first literary novel “The Longitude of Grief” on Thursday, May 16.

It is with deep regret that we mourn the passing of 60 year Protection Engine Company member Dick Wheeler. Dick was a quiet presence, and an invaluable member of the department who was always willing to assist in any way. Calling hours with the family will be held at DeFriest Grattan funeral home in Southold on November 16 from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. A firematic service will be held at 8 p.m.

The holiday season is here! You won’t want to miss SFD’s annual Santa parade on December 18 at 6 p.m. Our trucks will be in full holiday illumination as they make their way from Southold High School to the main house. See you there!

It is with great sadness that the officers of Protection Engine Company announce the passing of Alec Elak Jr. Joining in 1961,
Alec was incredibly proud to be a member of the Southold Fire Department. He was on the new member committee, and served as a delegate for the North Fork Volunteer Firefighters Association. He carried the flag proudly in parades and always politely refused offers to ride in department vehicles, preferring to march. He could always be counted on to help at all fundraisers, from selling tickets to husking corn, setting up tables, and enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow members. His quiet presence will be greatly missed.
