Parking in Southold Park District lot for a fee. Lighthouse Service in 1857. It is one of seven historic lighthouses located in Southold Township. The tower and adjoining keepers residence are built on the "Cliff Lot" of Barnabas Horton's original 1640 land grant. The tower

is 58 feet tall and once held a 3rd order Fresnel lens. The lighthouse was managed by several keepers during its history until its automation in 1933. In a 1990 restoration project the tower was repaired internally and externally, reopened, and re-lit. At that time the lower level of the Keeper's House was converted into the a Nautical Museum. The Lighthouse is listed on both the State & National Registers of Historic Places. The Nautical Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays 11:30 to 4 from Memorial Day Weekend through mid-September. Admission is $5/adult and $10/family (2 adults living in same household and their minor children) and includes admission to Southold Historical Museum’s Maple Lane Complex. Parking available in the Southold Park District’s lot for a fee. Street parking is by Southold Town permit and is strictly enforced.

We are sorry, but due to a shortage of volunteers, Horton Point Lighthouse will be closing at 1:30pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
