John F. Cain
John comes from a small “farm” town in Western Massachusetts. As a young boy he couldn’t be slowed down. He was constantly on the move; playing outside, racing BMX, building full scale construction sites in his sand box, and working along side his father repairing heavy equipment. The son of a distinguished teacher of excellence and a successful small business owner, John learned the value of hard work, dedication, and the attitude to never quit. From a young age his mind was sparked by all things mechanical, military, and filled with adrenaline. Throughout his early life John was an active Boy Scout who quickly advanced through the badges and ultimately achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His natural leadership ability, love for the military, coupled with his mechanical aptitude and ability ultimately led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Systems with a minor in Nuclear Power from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY.
With a diploma from Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA, multi-sport high school varsity athletic career, academic achievements, unwavering determination and an appointment by the sitting U.S. Congressman from the first district of Massachusetts, John was on his way to pursue his dream at Kings Point. Coming from a military and civil servant family he was ready to become one of the future leaders of America. His time at the academy took him to over 20 countries around the world, which allowed him a perspective that most young men will never have the opportunity to experience. Seeing countries ranging in wealth from Dubai to the Philippines he was able to see firsthand how the rest of the world lived. When at the academy he played intramural sports, spent time on academy watercraft, and spend many hours studying engineering, ethics, world history, and leadership. John ultimately earned a B.S. in Marine Engineering System with a Minor in Nuclear Power Engineering and a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy. Overcoming adversity was a lesson learned well while attending the Academy.
Upon graduation John went to work with his United States Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer license aboard multiple merchant vessels. He upgraded his license to Second Assistant Engineer unlimited and Chief Engineer of Offshore Supply Vessels. When not aboard ship he worked with his father learning more about the business end of a small business, which he ultimately took over. He obtained experience in power plant operation, business, construction, and developing people. He joined the volunteer fire department of his hometown to serve his community, the community that had served him as a child. His leadership ability and depth of knowledge made him an asset to the fire department. As a small-town volunteer fire fighter John was instrumental in many lifesaving activities, many of which involving people he knew. He was also able to bring his engineering and leadership knowledge to the department, which he utilized to teach fellow firemen how to use the equipment and how it worked. John spent 8 years in the Navy Reserve and attained the rank of Lieutenant. As a true test of John’s character and integrity he became a father just before graduating from Kings Point; he has raised his daughter with the same values bestowed in himself.
Currently, John is a full-time business owner operating both a mechanical repair business and a construction business, both of which are near his hometown. John has used his businesses to help serve his community through donations of money, time, resources, and knowledge. John has overcome many adversities throughout his career, each of which has helped strengthen his character, integrity, and drive for success. While growing his businesses he was involved in an industrial accident that fractured his right arm and lost his best childhood friend to the opioid crisis. These events would have caused most young people to seek an easier path. However, John did not let these adversities destroy his dreams. Instead, he doubled down, motivating himself to push harder to achieve even greater goals. He exemplifies the moto of Kings Point; “ACTA NON VERBA”, “Deeds, Not Words”. John is hardworking, driven to succeed, able to overcome adversity, and willing to help those in need.
In his free time John is an active cyclist and family focused man. Most of his time is spent with his fiancé, daughter and three dogs. He is dedicated to educating his daughter and ensuring that his family is taken care. Never afraid to step-up and help those in need, John is a proven leader.
Seeing the lack of young leadership in both the public and private sectors John decided to fully commit himself to serving his community, coming full circle to make a run for Massachusetts State Senate. His proven record of leadership, broad knowledge and experience, and commitment to the community makes him the best candidate to represent the people of his district. The district, that had the confidence in him to take him from a blue-collar working class family and send him to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, deserves to be represented by a man of his character, integrity, mental strength, physical toughness, and moral stature. John F. Cain will represent everyone in his district and ensure the best policies for his constituents.
