***BREAKING NEWS!***

Please share…

Southwick… we just received some incredible news today, and we couldn’t wait to share it with everyone.

Fireworks have been part of Southwick summers for generations. This year is extra special as we celebrate 250 years of American independence, and now we have the chance to put on the biggest show our town has ever seen.

Today we received a phone call that could change everything.

A generous donor has offered to match every dollar we raise for fireworks, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000!

Think about that for a second…

If our community can raise $20,000, we usually do 14,000 towards fireworks and 6000 towards kids activities that matching gift will give us a $34,000 fireworks show!

Thirty-four thousand dollars.

We’ve never had a fireworks display of that size here in Southwick. Never.

What makes this even more special is the people behind it. The crew that puts on our fireworks aren’t some company from halfway across the country. They’re local residents. They’re our neighbors. They’ve been lighting up the skies over Southwick for years…. long before the Civic Fund got involved. They take tremendous pride in giving our town a show to remember, and now we have the opportunity to help them create something truly spectacular.

So I’m asking for your help.

If you’ve ever spread out a blanket at Whalley Park… watched your kids chase fireflies while waiting for the first shell to go up… or looked around and realized that for one night the whole town is together… then you know this event is about more than fireworks.

It’s about community.

Every donation helps. Whether it’s $10, $25, $50, or more, every dollar you give becomes two dollars thanks to this incredible matching gift.

Let’s show everyone what a small town can accomplish when neighbors come together.

Now, while I’ve got your attention, I have another question…

What are your thoughts on combining our annual Farm Parade with the Southwick 250 Celebration and making it one big hometown parade?

One reason we’re asking is that, due to budget cuts, some of the funding sources that have helped offset the public safety costs for the Farm Parade in past years are no longer available.

Rather than trying to do two separate events, would it make sense to bring everyone together for one great community parade?

We are picturing something that starts at Powder Mill School and makes its way to Whalley Park. Little League and softball teams, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, veterans, civic organizations, local businesses, antique tractors, classic cars, floats… just neighbors celebrating neighbors.

What do you think?

Would you support combining the two events? We’d really appreciate your honest thoughts. If the community likes the idea, we’ll start seeing what’s possible. yes it’s a much smaller route, but it may attract more farm animals.

We couldn’t help but notice… the Easter Egg Hunt was missing this year

Those are the kind of traditions that stick with you so it got us thinking.

If the Southwick Civic Fund were to bring it back next year, what would YOU want it to look like?

* Good Friday?
* Saturday before Easter?
* Maybe even the weekend before?

We’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and what works best for your families.

Drop a comment below if we do this, we want to do it right and make it something special for the kids .
