📚 SRS Grade-Level Meetings 💚💛

Today, SRS students gathered by grade level in the auditorium for class meetings to kick off the school year.

Students reviewed school expectations and the SRS Code of Conduct, helping to make sure everyone started the year with a shared understanding of what it means to be part of the SRS community. Class officers and class advisors also had the opportunity to share important information and updates with their classmates.

It was a great chance to come together, reconnect, and set the tone for a successful year ahead.

💚💛 Powder Mill ROCKS! 💚💛

Today Powder Mill students gathered by grade level in the auditorium with Assistant Principal Chuck Jasek to learn about and review what it means to ROCK at Powder Mill!

R – Respect
O – Ownership
C – Cooperate
K – Kind
S – Self-Control

Students talked about what ROCKS looks like throughout the school day—from respecting others and taking ownership of their choices to cooperating, including others, and demonstrating self-control.

These grade-level conversations are a great way to start the year with shared expectations and a reminder that every student plays a part in making Powder Mill a great place to learn and grow.

The first days of school are off to a wonderful start at Woodland! Despite today’s dreary weather, our halls are once again filled with smiling faces, happy voices, and the energy of our students and we couldn’t be happier to have them back!

We can’t wait to welcome our Kindergarten students tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2nd, and our preschool students on Tuesday, September 8th! 🎉

NEW FOR GRADE 6 FAMILIES: PLUSPORTALS

Sixth grade is an important bridge between elementary school and junior high school, and this year we’re adding another tool to help our students build the independence and responsibility they’ll need for that next step!

Grade 6 families now have access to PlusPortals, where they can view assignments, grades, and other academic information.

But the real goal is bigger than checking grades. We encourage families to use PlusPortals with their child to help sixth graders begin taking greater ownership of their learning—keeping track of assignments, talking about their progress, and recognizing when it’s time to ask a teacher for help.

⏰ A quick reminder: PlusPortals is not meant to be monitored constantly. Teachers need time to grade assignments and enter information, so grades will not always appear immediately. Teachers will generally update information approximately every two weeks.

Grade 6 families should have received an email with instructions for activating their Parent PlusPortals account. Once activated, families can access PlusPortals online or through the ParentPlus app.

Our goal is for our sixth graders to leave Powder Mill not only academically prepared for seventh grade, but also more confident in advocating for themselves, managing their responsibilities, and taking ownership of their learning.
