🎉 Tonight, the Utah County Sheriff's Office K9 Team put on our annual K9 Demo at the Utah County Fair Demolition Derby!

Four randomly selected contestants took part in one of our favorite crowd events—K9 Black Jack! 🐕🃏

Here's how it works:
🃏 13 decoys each have an oversized playing card.
🐕 All K9s, wearing muzzles, "deal" the cards by hitting their selected decoys.
🙋 Each contestant decides whether to Hit or Stand, just like in Blackjack!

Tonight's final hands:
🐕 K9 Frankie & Macade – 21
🐕 K9 Zarj & Tara – 21
🐕 K9 H***h & Bryson – 27 (Bust!)
🐕 K9 Vinny & Lexie – 19

With a tie at 21, Macade and Tara settled it with a sudden-death game of Rock, Paper, Scissors... SHOOT! ✂️🪨📄

If you remember from earlier this month, we posted about Judy and her generous donation of a single purpose drug detection dog, a new explosive detection dog.

Judy Shafer got to meet the Explosive Detection K9 "Ruby" (and Handler Deputy Metcalf.)

Judy got to meet Ruby, an 18-month-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever one of the Police Service Dogs she purchased for the Utah County Sheriff's Office and Handler Deputy Metcalf on 4-15-26.

Judy is such a wonderful person, and I have some opportunity to visit with her. She is very knowledgeable about canines and has a love for Police Service Dogs.
She is always interested in ways to help the service dog program and has attended training with our team.
We would like to offer our appreciation to Judy for all she has done!!!!
