East Middle defeated Immanuel Lutheran 54-20 on 8th grade Night. Karmelo Byrd, Brandon Mansaw, and John Ellis all scored in double-figures. The night ended with an Award ceremony celebrating our eighth grade basketball players. Congratulations on this incredible win!

What an incredible way to end 2025, East Middle!

At the superintendent’s principal meeting, Hazelwood East Middle School received recognition for the Largest Increase in Total APR Points (26% to be exact!) and for being in the Top 50% of the State.

This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire school community and we stand very, very proud.

Happy Thanksgiving to Our East Corridor Families!

As principals of the Hazelwood East Corridor, we are honored to serve a community filled with resilience, brilliance, and heart. This season reminds us of the power of gratitude and we are deeply thankful for our students who inspire us, our families who partner with us, and our staff and community who show up every day with dedication and love.

This Thanksgiving, we celebrate more than a holiday. We celebrate you — our Hazelwood East family — for believing in our schools, trusting us with your children, and walking beside us in this journey of growth, hope, and purpose.

What happens when you walk middle schoolers through the halls where their future could unfold?

Magic.
Possibility.
And suddenly… purpose becomes real.

Hazelwood East Middle School students spent the day at SLU, touring the School of Education, School of Business, and parts of the College of Arts & Sciences and International Studies. They stepped inside the Student Union, got a glimpse of college life at the student rec center, and even experienced a peek into the New York Stock Exchange simulation space.

But the real moment?

When our students sat down with Ryan Wilson and Dean Gary W. Ritter from the SLU School of Education, and heard firsthand what it truly means to be educators, leaders, creators, and difference-makers.

East Middle scholars ended the day with a STEM design challenge—building makeshift houses from only cardboard, ping pong balls, pipe cleaners, scotch tape, and a squishy toy. What they built wasn’t just a house; it was collaboration, creativity, and the foundation of a future.

East Middle School scholars are next tier and they embody the belief that East Middle School is: Where dreams ignite and excellence thrives!
