The little ones at Puddle Jumpers childcare center were excited to receive one of our Learning Connection deliveries yesterday. In partnership with Georgia DECAL, we are able to deliver a basket full of storybooks, learning materials, and fun activities to at least one childcare partner every month. The smiles on the little faces are the greatest "thank you" we could receive! 💕

As part of our work within the Georgia Overdose Prevention Partnership, we distribute Naloxone and/or Narcan to first responders and to individuals who are at risk of overdose. Naloxone saves lives; it is an opioid antagonist that reverses the effects of opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Did you know that drug overdoses, primarily involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl, are the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 44? Did you know that about 70,000 drug overdose deaths occurred in the U.S. during 2025? Naloxone/Narcan is one possible solution to help save lives. Improving access to books and learning materials is one of our primary goals to promote early learning and literacy. During the past few weeks, we delivered a Learning Connection Basket to Ollie Scott's Home Learning Center, distributed over 100 Storybook Bags to children, and donated 100 literacy kits to Power Camp 2026.

Sending a huge THANK-YOU to our partners at The Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy for awarding us a Bridge Grant to help support our early learning efforts during the next twelve months! We will be working with some of our local childcare partners to experiment with strategies and educational tools that promote Social-Emotional Learning among children. 😃

As one of our childcare partners explained: “It is hard to expect children to focus and learn in the typical classroom setting when they walk through my door loaded down with fear, victimization,
hunger, anger, and emotions that they don’t know how to manage. We must find solutions to deal with the overwhelming social-emotional challenges as part of the early learning process”. We expect our Bridge Grant to help examine and find solutions that will make a difference!

1. Know your risks and have a plan.
2. Have the supplies you'll need well in advance.
3. Have a communications plan in the event of a storm.
4. Be prepared for prolonged power outages.

We were happy to provide Emergency Fire Blankets and prevention books/crayons for our partners at Cook County Fire Department for their fire safety exhibits and demonstrations at the Adel Daylily Festival yesterday. There were lots of little smiling faces at our Storybook Table at the Adel Daylily Festival yesterday 😃. Through our Learning Connection project, we were happy to provide bags packed with coloring/activity books, crayons, prevention and safety books, and a Community Resource Guide for families. Thanks to our Family Connection Ambassador Tammie Bobo for representing CCFC and managing our Storybook Table ❤️💛❤️
