The Bridgeport Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest houses and runs the avalanche forecasting and education operations of the Bridgeport Avalanche Center (BAC). It houses one full-time, seasonal Avalanche Specialist and provides infrastructure including office space, computers, internet access, phones, vehicles, fuel, safety equipment, and supervision. athers avalanche, snowpack, and weather observations then uses this data to create and issue a weekly Snowpack Summary and publish snowpack/avalanche observations. BAC's Snowpack Summaries are specific to the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area (BWRA, or "BOO-rah"); BAC's Snowpack Summaries do NOT pertain to backcountry areas outside the BWRA. The USFS Bridgeport Avalanche Center program receives funding through the California State Parks OHV Grant Program, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest / Bridgeport Ranger District, and the USFS National Avalanche Center.
