Description:
The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (DEC) defines drug endangered children as "Those who are at risk of suffering physical or emotional harm as a result of illegal drug use, possession, manufacturing, cultivation or distribution. They also may be children whose caretaker's substance misuse interferes with their ability to parent and provide a safe and nurturing environment." The Nevada Tribal DEC Alliance, ITCN Statewide Native American Coalition (SNAC) and the Mending the Circle Program have collaborated to provide this training. You will receive training and information on how to identify drug endangered children and how to build an alliance in your community through collaboration. You will also hear personal stories of service providers and their experiences, and how they became DEC aware.
The members of the Statewide Native American Coalition and the Nevada Tribal DEC Alliance are committed to improving the lives of drug-endangered children, through training, awareness and empowering communities to create alliances that work for the health and safety of all children.
Our goal is to urge that tribal communities build an "army" that includes law enforcement, child welfare, court attorney/ advocates, educators, health and social service providers to engage in a successful effort to rescue, protect and assist our most valuable resource; OUR CHILDREN.
