This morning the SAFD renewed an old street clean up tradition downtown Sparta.

As summer approaches there is a lot of activity downtown - farmers markets, pop up shops, the Memorial Day parade and Butterfest parade. Downtown is looking sharp and ready for the nice weather!

Gordy was an outstanding firefighter instructor with 40+ years of experience. He taught several courses for our department members, teaching the “old school” mentality of firefighting - a teaching method that is difficult to find and has changed significantly over the years.

Our department was lucky to have someone like Gordy to teach the traditional methods through the new age of firefighting.

Rest in peace Gordy, thank your for your service and we will take it from here
