The part no one talks about is the cleanup after the incident. Engine 1 (Doyle Volunteer Fire Department) and Engine 33 (Mt. Gilead Station) reported to station 32 (Quebeck) to reload Engine 32 with clean hose and ensure it is ready for the next call.

Engine 413 and Chief 400 (Sparta Fire) Tanker 804 (Hickory Valley) and Tanker 1 (Doyle) returned to their stations to ensure those apparatus were ready to respond again when needed.

The amount of effort required of these agencies to ensure you are served is something to be admired as most of those who responded today were true volunteers leaving jobs, farms, or family responsibilities to serve neighbors/strangers. Please support our missions through your time or financial support. Every little bit helps and no donation is too small. We are always accepting applications. Reach out to this page for more information on ways you can serve.

At approximately 1145 members of the l Central View Volunteer Fire Department - Walling/Quebeck/Mt. Gilead, Doyle Volunteer Fire Department, Hickory Valley Fire Department were dispatched with automatic aid from Sparta Fire Department to a residential structure fire at 921 Buffalo Road. Members arrived on scene to a single wide mobile home that was fully involved. Members quickly doused the fire and remained on scene for several hours to ensure the scene was safe.

Neighbors may notice some smoke but it is being supervised by the property owner. A special thanks to White County EMS for managing rehab and helping make sure our volunteers are hydrated and the White County Sheriff's Office for the traffic control.

Lieutenant Callister who is also a career firefighter/AEMT for Crossville Fire & Rescue was recognized on the Tennessee State Senate floor last night for her work in bringing attention to the discrepancy in punishment in assaulting first responders and law enforcement after she was assaulted in the course of her duties as a firefighter. Thank you Lt. Callister for the work you do for us and the changes you helped drive for all of us across the state of Tennessee.

Last night, the Tennessee Senate passed Senate Bill 1900 with strong support (27–3) — legislation I was proud to sponsor to strengthen protections for the first responders who serve our communities every day.

This legislation started with Jade Callister, a full-time firefighter and Advanced EMT with Crossville Fire & Rescue, who brought this issue forward after she was assaulted while responding to a call in 2025.

Her willingness to speak up — not just for herself, but for others in her profession — helped turn a personal experience into meaningful action.

Because of Jade, this bill ensures that those who answer the call for help are better protected when they do.

For me, this is what it means to serve — listening when someone brings you a real problem, and working to deliver a real solution.
